Welcome to Crossfire! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Crossfire word puzzle game ("Service"). By using Crossfire, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Crossfire, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Crossfire is a free-to-play multiplayer word puzzle game where players compete to solve crossword puzzles created from each other's words. The Service includes:

Real-time multiplayer matchmaking
Single-player games against AI opponents
Private friend rooms
Leaderboards and achievements
Player statistics tracking

3. User Accounts

Crossfire uses a simplified account system based on Player IDs:

A unique Player ID is automatically generated when you first visit
Your Player ID is stored locally in your browser
You may change your Player ID to an existing ID to recover your stats
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your Player ID
Player IDs may be visible to other players on leaderboards

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
Use automated scripts, bots, or cheats to gain unfair advantages
Harass, abuse, or harm other users
Submit offensive, inappropriate, or vulgar words during gameplay
Impersonate other players or use misleading Player IDs
Exploit bugs or glitches instead of reporting them

Fair Play Policy: We reserve the right to remove players from leaderboards, reset statistics, or ban users who violate these terms or engage in unfair play.

5. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Crossfire and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

The words you submit during gameplay become part of the puzzle for your opponent but you retain no intellectual property rights in individual word submissions.

6. User-Generated Content

When you submit words during gameplay:

Words must be valid English dictionary words
You grant us the right to use these words to generate puzzles
We may filter or reject inappropriate words
You are responsible for the words you submit

7. Advertisements

The Service may display advertisements provided by third parties, including Google AdSense. By using the Service, you acknowledge that:

Advertisements may be displayed during gameplay
Ad content is provided by third parties and we do not endorse advertised products or services
You may opt out of personalized advertising through your browser or device settings

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.

We do not warrant that:

The Service will meet your requirements
The Service will be available at all times
Game statistics or progress will be preserved indefinitely
Matchmaking will always find opponents quickly

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

This includes but is not limited to:

Loss of game progress or statistics
Inability to access the Service
Actions of other players
Third-party content or advertisements

10. Modifications to Service

We reserve the right to:

Modify or discontinue the Service at any time
Change game rules, mechanics, or features
Reset leaderboards or statistics
Add, modify, or remove features without notice

11. Changes to Terms
